Under the ambitious PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, Assam has witnessed a significant surge in the adoption of rooftop solar systems, marking a major step forward in the state’s renewable energy journey. According to the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL), the state is now procuring over 31 million units of surplus solar power generated by approximately 52,000 households across Assam. This reflects not only the success of the subsidy program but also the growing awareness among citizens about renewable energy and its environmental and economic benefits. Homeowners who have installed these solar panels are witnessing a substantial reduction in their electricity bills, while simultaneously supplying excess power back to the grid.
